Get Smooth Painted Cabinet Doors .
To get a smooth finish when you paint cabinet doors , the key to getting the best finish painting is thorough prep work. You CAN NOT skip the essential steps when taking on a project that requires this much attention to detail . Doing so will definitely show up in the final product. The biggest mistake is not sanding and cleaning thoroughly enough. After sanding there will be lots of dust and contaminants still on the surface that needs to be cleaned immaculately . Not Doing so will leave dust and crumbs that will show up in your finish, not to mention it will cause paint adhesion problems as well . This is a process you must repeat in each step. From the initial scuff sand of the cabinet doors to after you apply the coat of primer and each time in between coats. Leaving dust on the surface will cause bubbles and fish eyes in your paint.
Proper prep of cabinet doors
After sanding you would want to make sure there are now gauges , deep scratches , or dings in the wood that would show up in your paint . Just painting over things like this will not leave you with an attractive end result . If you do have these damages you want to properly repair them. Some people use a wood filler . I prefer a glazing putty made by bondo. It dries really fast and sand down really well . Depending if you have floating or raised panels on your cabinet doors you might also have to do some caulking . Leaving those areas open will leave your finish looking terrible.
Not letting the coats fully dry .
No other way to ruin a cabinet's door finish is not letting enough time between coats to dry . Applying a 2nd or a 3rd coat too fast can mess up the finish bg time. From streaking to cracking and all around paint failure . You have to leave enough time for paint to begin the curing process. You can’t just slap paint over semi wet paint over and over without letting the first application dry thoroughly . All that leads up to is a caked up messy project , Your cabinet door will not look flawless . All the time, money have now gone to waste and will add additional stress thts not needed in a painting project .
