Removing Kitchen Faucet
First you want to make sure the water is off. If the new faucet is going to use the same supply lines all you need to do is turn the water off from the supply lines . Turn left or right whichever way it is to close the shut off valves
If your new kitchen faucet comes with new new supply lines , then you'll need to shut off the water to the main line . Once the water is shutoff run the water for a few minutes until all the remaining water in the lines are completely out.
unloosen the bolts from the valve . You can use a crescent wrench, pliers, basin wrench "specialty tool for plumbing fixtures" or channel locks . Once you remove lines from valve then go ahead and remove bolts from the faucet as well . There will also be a bracket mounting the faucet to the counter top remove those bolts as well .
Now you have everything taken off you can lift up the Kitchen Faucet and remove it. Discard if needed , However , if its nothing wrong with your faucet and this is a simple upgrade keep all the parts to your olfd plumbing fixture and put it in the new box to store away .
Clean off the sink base
Where the old faucet was installed make sure to scrape any plumbers putty and silicone to make for an even surface to mount your new kitchen faucet.
Install Water Supply Lines
If you are using the same lines then skip this step. Screw water supply lines back onto the valves. The left is usually the hot water and the right is usually the cold water , It doesn't matter which line you put on which as they are the same.
Dry Fit The New Faucet
You want to dry fit the new faucet to make sure all the plumbing is still aligned. If it isn't you'll have to do some modification . if not , you are ready to install the mounting bracket and Install the faucet Roll a small amount of plumbers putty and lay it down before . Now your faucet is in and level , hook up the the other end of the supply lines to the faucet . Make sure to put a little Teflon tape on the threads for a tighter seal
Turn Water Back on
Now That the water is back on do a double check and make sure all the bolts and fittings are tight. now you can test out your new kitchen faucet . Turn on the faucet and check for leaks . if none is present you are good to go . When you have leaking you know something isn't tightened properly .
